Thanks to today's technology, I can operate my trucking company from anywhere in the world.  I can live anywhere I want to live, but I choose to call Clark County home.  Too many people throughout the United States are living in places they want to leave.  Here, I'm fighting to stay.

I wanted my kids to be involved in everything and quickly found that I, too, had to be involved in everything.  So I signed up for athletic and band boosters and volunteered in our school's concession stands.  The superintendent asked me to run for the school board, which I did and was elected.  That's where my deeper community involvement began. I worked closely with the Arkansas School Board Association (ASBA) and later became the regional director where I represent 22 school districts.

When AREDA was formed, I knew we needed more community leadership so I encouraged Amity to create the Amity Chamber of Commerce so we could have a voice.  I have also been involved with Group Living in Arkadelphia and am a member of the Caddo Career Consortium, where we lead adult education and promote the English language.  Being involved has kept me informed.

We offer a large number of organizations designed for networking and community service, from Rotary and Lions Club to city chambers.  We have some of the finest rural schools in the state and two amazing universities.  Anywhere in Clark County, within thirty minutes, you can be sitting in a university classroom.  Who else can claim that?

In Clark County, our cost of living isn't high, giving residents more options in building or buying a home.  You can send your child to award-winning public schools that prepare them for the world.  After graduation, you can send your child to one of two distinct colleges located in the heart of our community.  You can play golf on any of our courses and there's shopping for mom.  There's a way of life here that's different.

Damon Daniels operates Cowboy Dispatch, a trucking company, in the local community of Amity. In addition to his business, Damon serves as a regional director of the Arkansas School Board Association, representing 22 regional school districts.
