I enjoy the laid-back nature and community spirit here.  If something happens, such as a death in the family or a house fire, people come together and support each other.  In fact, our grocery store still makes home deliveries to community members.  It's just something that my wife and I love to do.

To anyone thinking about moving here, I would say the atmosphere is great, there are beautiful lakes, deer hunting, streams for fishing and floating, great neighborhoods and not a lot of crime. There are plenty of things to do.  We have gospel singing featuring all of our local churches in the city hall every fourth Saturday with regular crowds of over 150.  All the denominations come together for community events.  We also have an Easter service on the square together, followed by breakfast at one of the local churches.

I am a member of the Amity Chamber, and we got the gospel night started.  We're also looking into restoring the old school and perhaps relocating the chamber and a local library into the building.  The fact that we are even thinking like this is amazing.  It shows the change that is going on around here.

I think we are going to benefit from the sales tax that was recently passed.  I think it will help us get industry here and prosper from it.  And, even if a majority of the growth goes to Arkadelphia or Gurdon, people here in Amity work in those neighboring communities.  So, the entire county will prosper.
