Community Celebration of Black History Month
“Community Celebration of Black History Month” is the theme for the February exhibit at the Arkadelphia Arts Center (former Royal Theatre), 625 Main Street. The Center highlights many aspects of our local African American heritage including photographs from early Clark County, antique items used through the last century, and an Underground Railroad quilt pattern exhibit. There is also an exhibit on sorghum making, “Music through the Ages”, visual art by local African American artists, and memorabilia from local African American celebrities. Books will be on display by local authors and book signings are scheduled throughout the month. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10 to 5, Sunday afternoon 12 to 5. For more information call 870-403-8216. Be sure to look on each day in February in this Chamber of Commerce Events Calendar to get more in depth information about each of the featured exhibits.
Feature of the day: Antique items used through the last century will be on display, coordinated by Roland Gosey and sponsored by the Laymen Department of Greater Pleasant Hills Baptist Church.
